DotA Heroes' Spells Cooldowns
This is the critical key and "talent" that I got when I played DotA to this level of efficiency. I just will know when is the right time to go and when is not. It comes naturally as you play more.
It's quite hard to get a grasp on the heroes' spell cooldown if you have just started playing the game. However, you will improve as you get to know the heroes and how they are played with their skill set. Take note of their spell's mana cost cooldowns and the working mechanism of it.
Eg. if you have seen a group of 3 heroes ganking your ally, with luna using her ulti on your ally. Take note of the time shown on the DotA clock on the top right of the screen.
If it's showing 33mins and counting, you just have to take note that luna will get her ulti back in around 35 mins when you are engaging her again. So for the time 33 - 35 mins you will have no worries of her ulti. Even when you go hunting in the NC for her. She cannot ulti and kill you with it.
That's what makes a Pro from a newbie, when some newbies see that you are actually killing them with the knowledge of their spellcooldown, they will think that you are using hack or something. But you are not.
Here's another senario,
when Rasta casted his hex, Sperent wards and shackled on your ally and you are playing Sand King, should you burrow in and epi(ulti)?
The answer is yes! As these spells have a cooldown of around more than 10 sec (off the top of my head) and they cannot be casted in that timeframe again to disable your ulti ( 2 sec channeling time).
Since your burrow strike will stun Rasta and disable his shackle, your ally can start running or even help you. With your Epi doing more damage in the shorter time compared to his Wards, Rasta will take a huge amount of Damage before the wards even start to scratch you. And the result is obvious, Rasta wanted to gank and kill but in the end he meets his doom. Earning you Gold,EXP,a streak and saving your ally.
